Eric Becoats is a longtime educational administrator who has served as interim executive director with Distinctive Schools in Chicago since late 2014. He is responsible for supporting one of the network’s charter schools and coaches a diversity of faculty members, including teachers, instructional coaches, and principals. Eric Becoats also assists in developing policies and acts as a thought leader with other leadership team members. He coordinates activities and programs, and he ensures that the needs of students are met.
Mr. Becoats’ past experience includes five years as chief of staff and chief administrative officer with the Guilford County Schools in Greensboro, North Carolina. He coordinated support efforts spanning five regions and 120 schools. Mr. Becoats created a Brotherhood Initiative for recognizing achievement among the African American male student population and devised the region’s first ever strategic plan. Eric Becoats successfully reduced math achievement gaps and set in place a rapid response team designed to offer one of the most challenged schools in the district additional instructional resources.
